I’ve happily made myself comfortable reading a few journals over the last couple of weeks. Maybe comfortable is not the right word – the best writing can make you very uncomfortable.
Meniscus, Underground and the Boroondara Anthology 2017 are part of a vibrant small mag scene (if that doesn’t sound too hipster?). There’s poetry in the publications as well but I am particularly taken with the range of short stories propelling me off in different directions as I read – and dream about writing.
This is one of the reasons to love the approach of the Christmas season. The educational year winds down and the hours for reading open up.
[Disclaimer: I have stories in each of these. And feel lucky to be included]
